The Shifter
More than just a short shifter.
It is easy to misunderstand The Shifter, it is, after all, a complex piece of precision machinery. So to assist in clarity, here is a list of what The Shifter IS NOT:
It is not a short shifter
Short shifters just reduce the length of the shaft. No one wants a shorter shaft. This is not an early 2000s Audi…
This effectively does nothing, but is aesthetically pleasing to some.
It is not just a short throw shifter
A short throw shifter is what people really want when they say they want a short shifter. This reduces distance between gears, or ‘throw’ in this instance.
The Shifter does this, reducing throw by 25%
It is not a shift extender
Shift extenders are exactly what you think they are. They extend the shaft.
This gives a motorsport look and places the shift knob closer to the wheel. This is cool.
This actually increases throw length, this is not cool.
So what is the shifter?
The shifter is different. It address almost every purpose someone may have when they want to change their shift setup. It does it in the following way:
Short throw, long shaft.
Throw between gears is reduced by 25%. Faster shifting is guaranteed.
Shift height is is increased by 60mm. Ergonomically, this places the shifter much closer to the wheel
Mechanical, adjustable.
Pre-loaded self centring. This uses resistance to hold the shifting shaft central to 3rd and 4th, making those up and down shifts on track all the better.
Adjustable stops. End users are able to adjust the left and right stop points of travel, meaning you can lock in exactly where left and right travel ends, leading to much cleaner shifting.
Motorsport in mind
Made for track. We had motorsport in mind when designing The Shifter, from track day heroes through to professionals, The Shifter has been made to last.
Hard wearing and High Quality. Only the best materials have been used in construction. Our aluminium is sourced from the same supplier used by the German and Austrian Military, it is quite literally military grade.
Precision made. Our shifters are developed with Achleitner Armoured Vehicles, using high tolerances and the latest CNC technology. This reduces slack everywhere we deemed possible, vastly improving overall feel.
Cool, it’s shiny, but do i really need one?
There is no doubt we had the hard drivers in mind when producing The Shifter, but lets take a moment to think about it:
A shifter is the most interactive part of driving. If you’re a real driver, you’re not cruising everywhere in 6th. Changing gears is the part of that experience we enjoy the most so why not have the best experience possible.
Have your hand on something worth holding. The Shifter will have you reaching for the gear knob more than ever before, downshifting for that overtake has never been so satisfying.
It’s definitely a centrepiece. Like all Ropey Racing products, The Shifter fits our ethos. It is exceptionally high quality, designed with a purpose in mind and built to last.
